Michael E. Hamerly Appointed President of VSE International Group

ALEXANDRIA, Va.-- VSE Corporation (NASDAQ GS: VSEC) announced today that 25-year VSE veteran Michael E. Hamerly has been appointed President of VSE's International Group.

Mr. Hamerly will report to VSE CEO/President/COO Maurice A. Gauthier, who said, "I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Hamerly as our new International Group President. Mike is a proven member of our leadership team with 25 years of experience as a project, program and business unit manager. He is a recognized and well regarded leader in our industry, and I look forward to continuing our work together as we execute our strategic plan to develop VSE capabilities and growth in the years ahead."

As President of the International Group, Mr. Hamerly is responsible for the Group's operational policy development and oversight, personnel management, cost management and marketing. He will also monitor sales growth, identify potential new areas of business, provide innovative bid strategies, and oversee contract execution and performance including quality, schedules, budgets and customer liaison.

Mr. Hamerly joined VSE in 1984 and served as Combat Systems Division Manager and Marine Engineering Group Manager. In 1996 he was promoted to Vice President, Deputy Manager, Engineering and Logistics Center. From 1999 to 2009, Mr. Hamerly served as Manager, Fleet Maintenance Division. In 2006 Mr. Hamerly was promoted to Executive Vice President and also assumed the role of Deputy Director, International Group.

During the past several years he has directed all corporate operations for Naval Air, Munitions and Ordnance, Air Force Logistics, and the property management, logistics and disposition services to support the seizure and forfeiture program for the U.S. Treasury Executive Office for Asset Forfeiture and other federal agencies.

Before joining VSE, Mr. Hamerly served more than 20 years active duty in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Hamerly holds a bachelor's degree in Management from Saint Leo University, Tampa, Fla.

James M. Knowlton, the outgoing International Group president who will be retiring at the end of May, said, "It has been my honor to be the International Group President, and I will now be concentrating efforts on Foreign Military Sales during the transition and until my retirement, after which I will serve as an exclusive consultant to VSE."
