VSE Opens Vehicle Modernization Facility in Kuwait

New Facility Supports Military Vehicle Repair and Refurbishment

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait-- VSE Corporation (NASDAQ GS:VSEC) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week for a new 900,000-square foot Route Clearing Vehicle (RCV) refurbishment complex. VSE serves as the prime contractor for the RCV Fleet Modernization Program in Iraq and Afghanistan to improve the U.S. military's defense against roadside mines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The VSE Team repairs and modernizes RCVs in theater, eliminating the need to ship vehicles out of theater and minimizing the impact on the U.S. Army warfighters. The program is also designed to support the modernization of U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy MRAP-type vehicles.

VSE Federal Group President Tom Dacus said, "This facility and storage area was designed and configured to provide depot level modernization and repair of the U.S. Army's V-Hull Route Clearing and Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles. The establishment of this multi-use capable complex is a milestone for both VSE and the U.S. military in the region. This project comes on the heels of VSE's highly successful Tanker Ballistic Protection System designed to protect large fuel carriers in transit."

"VSE configured this former warehouse in 19 days after securing the lease," said VSE Federal Group Deputy Director Merritt Otto. "The build-out included offices, conference areas, and large supply and storage racks. The climate-controlled, fully secured, maintenance areas include 40 custom-configured work bays capable of all forms of specialized armor welding and large-vehicle modernization and maintenance. The large secured, outdoor vehicle storage area will serve as a significant strategic asset for the U.S. military in Southwest Asia."

VSE Program Manager Frank Wickersham III added, "We began work on more than 100 vehicles at a temporary site while simultaneously establishing the new facility. It was a herculean effort and a testament to the government/VSE team sense of urgency to get these vehicles to the troops as soon as possible."

The modernization program effort is managed by Letterkenny Army Depot, with oversight of the Program Manager - Assured Mobility System (PM-AMS).
