VSE Achieves IPv6 Operational Status

ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 23, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- VSE Corporation (Nasdaq:VSEC), an experienced contractor to the Federal government, reported today that it is now operational with the new Internet platform IPv6 to support its Federal government customers.

In 2003, the U.S. Government established a goal for all Federal agencies to achieve minimal support for IPv6 compliance by June 2008. In 2005, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) mandated the entire Federal government to upgrade to IPv6, with the first major milestone for agencies to be at least minimally IPv6 operational by June 2008.

IPv6 is the new Internet protocol that expands the potential address space (size) of the Internet and provides the foundation for developing next generation Web applications and services. Until all Internet users and sites have transitioned to IPv6, VSE will interoperate with the current platform (IPv4), as well as the new IPv6 to support communication with customers, partners, vendors, and the public.

This next-generation Internet Protocol intends to pave the way for the expected emergence of a host of new Internet capabilities by providing a vastly expanded number of addresses for Internet-connected devices. In addition, it may reduce operational expenses for Internet users.
