Thomas M. Kiernan Joins VSE Leadership Team

ALEXANDRIA, Va.-- VSE Corporation (NASDAQ GM:VSEC) announced today that its Board of Directors has appointed Thomas M. Kiernan, Esq., as Vice President, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary, effective November 17, 2008.

VSE President and CEO/COO Maurice A. Gauthier said, "Tom Kiernan brings 14 years of increasing responsibility and wide experience as a corporate legal executive to VSE. I am very pleased that the Board approved my nomination of Mr. Kiernan as our Vice President, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary where he will be responsible for VSE legal affairs and corporate compliance. Tom has consistently exhibited the business judgment and leadership skills during his career that qualify him for this important position. I look forward to working with him."

Prior to joining VSE, Mr. Kiernan served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Intelsat General Corporation (2003-2008), a subsidiary of Intelsat, Ltd. serving Government and commercial customers, where he was responsible for managing legal and regulatory compliance and directing the Administration support group, including human resources, security and contracts. Prior to joining Intelsat General Corporation, Mr. Kiernan served as a member of the Intelsat, Ltd., Office of General Counsel (2000-2003) where he was responsible for legal support for satellite and launch programs, as well as for real estate, procurement and intellectual property issues.

Prior to joining Intelsat, Mr. Kiernan served as corporate counsel for SRA Life Sciences (1994-2000), a technology consulting services company supporting the U.S. Departments of Defense and Energy, the EPA, and Federal health agencies.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Kiernan said "I am excited to join VSE and its leadership team. Mr. Kiernan is a graduate of Virginia Tech (B.A., Political Science, 1990) and George Mason University School of Law (J.D., 1994). He is a member of the Virginia State Bar and an active member of the Alexandria, VA community.
