Chief Executive Officer, President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Gauthier was appointed Chief Executive Officer, President and Chief Operating Officer of VSE Corporation in April of 2008 and was appointed to the Board of Directors in February of 2009. Upon retirement from nearly three decades of naval service, Mr. Gauthier joined VSE in October 1997, as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer and as our Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development before joining the Nichols Research Corporation Navy Group as its President in February, 1999. With the acquisition of Nichols Research Corporation by Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in 1999, Mr. Gauthier served in multiple roles at CSC, rising to Vice President and General Manager of CSC's Navy and Marine Corps Business Unit.
Mr. Gauthier is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the Naval Postgraduate School. He is also a graduate of the Defense Acquisition University's Defense Systems Management College as well as the Advanced Executive Program and the International Marketing Program of the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
He has served on the Boards of the World Affairs Council and the USO. He is currently serving on the Board of the National Defense Industrial Association, the Naval Historical Foundation, and the Yellow Ribbon Fund, where he serves as the Vice Chairman.
President and COO, Wheeler Bros., Inc.
Chad Wheeler was appointed President and COO of Wheeler Bros., Inc., in July 2013. He is involved in the executive management of day-to-day operations, government contract administration, new business development, supply chain initiatives and facilities management. He serves as a member of the operational board for Wheeler Bros., Inc., and has played an active role at WBI since 1991.
Previously, Mr. Wheeler assumed various roles at WBI, including Senior Vice President of Operations, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Marketing and Sales Manager. While serving as Marketing and Sales Manager, Mr. Wheeler coordinated implementation of WBI's MIP (Managed Inventory Program) which is used at over 275 United States Postal Service Vehicle Maintenance Facilities throughout the country. Mr. Wheeler graduated summa cum laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1998 with a degree in Marketing.
President and COO, VSE Aviation Inc.
Paul Goffredi is the President and COO of VSE Aviation, Inc., which includes Prime Turbines (including both U.S. and Germany-based operations), CT Aerospace, Kansas Aviation and Air Parts & Supply Co. Mr. Goffredi has held leadership positions in the aviation industry for nearly three decades. His focus has been on business development, strategic OEM and major customer relations, supply chain management, engine and material acquisition, and operational excellence and improvement.
Prior to joining the VSE team, Mr. Goffredi served as Chief Operating Officer for Killick Aerospace, and 13 years with BBA Aviation as Program Director for all Honeywell Engine Programs. Mr. Goffredi received a degree in Business Administration from Mesa State College (Colorado) in 1980 and holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from The University of St. Thomas (Texas).
President, Federal Services Group
Joseph “JR” Brown is the President of the Federal Services Group, which includes VSE’s Global Maritime Services, Global Land Service, Energetics Incorporated, and Akimeka, LLC. Mr. Brown brings over 20 years of experience as a program and business unit manager at VSE. Mr. Brow’s team specializes refurbishment services to extend and enhance the life of existing vehicles and equipment, fleet-wide ship and aircraft support, aircraft sustainment and maintenance, foreign military sales and other technical, management, engineering, logistics, maintenance, configuration management, prototyping, technology, field support services, and IT, energy and management consulting services to the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, U.S. Army and Army Reserve, U.S. Air Force, and other U.S. civilian agencies and foreign military customers.
Mr. Brown is a recognized and well-regarded leader in our foreign military sales support of the U.S. Navy, managing many of our successful ship transfers and related support services. Prior to joining VSE in 1996, Mr. Brown served 20 years active duty in the U.S. Navy. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from University of Maryland University College and an Associate of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
Executive Vice President, CFO
Tom Loftus is the Chief Financial Officer/Principal Accounting Officer of VSE Corporation. He has been in this position since March, 2002. He manages the entire accounting operation for the consolidated corporation. This involves managing the many daily tasks necessary to support the corporation as well as managing the numerous external compliance and audit functions involved in a government contractor that is a public company. Mr. Loftus has been with VSE since 1978 and has held various job descriptions over the years in the Finance and Accounting Department including Comptroller and Corporate Tax Director, a function he continues to perform.
Mr. Loftus is a licensed CPA in the State of Virginia and has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from George Washington University. He has nearly three decades of finance and accounting experience. He is a member of the National Society of Tax Professionals and a member of the Maryland Society of Accountants.
Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Mr. Kiernan, Esq., was appointed Vice President and General Counsel on November 17, 2008, and subsequently appointed Secretary on February 27, 2009. He is the first General Counsel for VSE and is responsible for VSE legal affairs and corporate compliance.
Prior to joining VSE, Mr. Kiernan served as Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary for Intelsat General Corporation (2003-2008), a subsidiary of Intelsat, Ltd., serving Government and commercial customers, where he was responsible for managing legal and regulatory compliance and directing the Administration support group, including human resources, security, and contracts. Prior to joining Intelsat General Corporation, Mr. Kiernan served as a member of the Intelsat, Ltd., Office of General Counsel (2000-2003).
Prior to joining Intelsat, Mr. Kiernan served as corporate counsel for SRA Life Sciences (1994-2000).
Vice President of Contracts and Procurement
Crystal Douglas was appointed Vice President of Contracts on December 1, 2008 and is responsible for the oversight of the contracts and procurement departments for VSE Corporation.
Prior to joining VSE, Ms. Douglas served as Director of Contracts for CSC's North American Public Sector, Defense Division (Navy/Marine Corps). Her roles and responsibilities included providing leadership and guidance for the contracts/subcontracts organization of the East/West Coast Navy business operations. Upon joining the CSC staff in 1994, she served as a senior contracts administrator and was subsequently promoted to contracts manager in support of the U.S. Air Force. Prior to assuming her last position at CSC in January 2008, Ms. Douglas was the senior contracts manager. During her tenure at CSC, she spearheaded multi-million dollar contracts and negotiations in all areas of acquisition management. Ms. Douglas was also instrumental in strategizing and executing long standing, excessive debt collection.
Ms. Douglas attended George Mason University and graduated in 1986 with a BS in Public Administration. Upon graduation she was hired as a contracts administrator for Dynamic Concepts (Washington, DC); and from 1988-1994 she worked for ICF Kaiser International (Fairfax, VA).
Vice President, Human Resources
Tina Bailey became Vice President of Human Resources at VSE Corporation in 2010. She specializes in addressing employee-related issues and ensuring human resources objectives are aligned with revenue and profit goals. She conducts risk analysis' to determine both the tangible and intangible implications of enterprise-wide decisions, as well as leading company-wide human resources initiatives to utilize best practices and maintain a competitive advantage on workforce matters.
Prior to joining the VSE team, Ms. Bailey's career highlights include serving as a human resources consultant for Aetna Casualty and Surety Company; as well as holding the position of VP of Administration, Director of Human Resources for the Science Application International Corporation (SAIC). Ms. Bailey earned a Masters Degree from Marymount University, Virginia (1997). She also holds a Bachelors Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond.
Chief Information Officer
Matthew "Matt" Mullenix was appointed VSE’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) in August 2015 and is responsible for leading VSE’s corporate-wide technology strategy and IT operations management. Mr. Mullenix also serves as the CIO for VSE subsidiary, Akimeka, LLC, and is the Managing Director for the VSE Information Technology Services Department.
Prior to joining Akimeka in 2005, Mr. Mullenix worked in the System Engineers group at the Maui High Performance Computing Center. His IT background includes extensive experience in Networking, Storage, Server, Visualization, and High Performance Computing (HPC) technologies. Mr. Mullenix is a graduate of Devry University, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management.
